Merle has an extensive history with science laboratory experiences and working with science teachers (K-12). Her research work was centered on the teaching and learning of genetics, at the upper elementary through college levels, as well as evolution and metabolism at the secondary and college levels. This research also involved the development of relevant and engaging curricular materials. She also has extensive experience in implementing Problem Based Learning.
Merle holds degrees in Biology from the University of North Dakota (B.S., M.S.) and Princeton University (Ph.D).
Merle’s free time is spent with her granddaughters and in her garden.
